Imagine you find yourself suddenly unable to locate your child? Your Mother, father, friend, sibling, grandparent...Any person important to you can become a missing person. Who would you call when doors are closed and you are without answers and feeling desperation? Would you know what to do if you found yourself in this nightmare? Naturally, most people don't know what to do because having a loved one go missing is unique to it's own individual set of circumstances. The FBI reported in the year 2010 a total of 692,944 missing persons reports were entered into The National Crime Information Center (NCIC) this number is a daily average of 1,898,00 persons who went missing per day. That is the equivalent of 7.5 airplanes full of passengers falling out of the sky in a single day. Thousands of cases go unreported each year and the number continues to escalate. There is no discrimination in becoming a missing person. People of all ages, races, and religion turn up missing each and every day of a single year. On Sunday, June 3rd of 2012; friends of missing Dallas native Lisa Stone will be hosting a fundraising event marking two years since her disappearance. This important event "The Journey of a Thousand Miles Begins With One Step: Hope for Texas Missing" will be focusing on bringing awareness to the cause of Missing Persons in the state of Texas and the challenges families are faced with when a loved one goes missing. Proceeds of this event will benefit a National Missing Persons organization; The Cue Center For Missing Persons who provide a wide range of free resources to the families of missing persons as well as law enforcement officials whom often call upon CUE for assistance in numerous capacities. The CUE Center advocates for the cases of a missing person including conducting on the ground search, rescue and recovery efforts spanning over the entire country in order to locate a families missing loved one including cases in the state of Texas. Since 1994, the CUE Center has helped more than 9,000 families in what is often the most confusing and desperate times of their lives. CUE is entirely donation funded and staffed by dedicated volunteers. Cue Founder, Monica Caison tirelessly dedicates her life to the recovery of missing people and the families involved. Focused on finding the missing by way of investigation and active search efforts, advocating for their causes and supporting their families Mrs. Caison founded the CUE Center in 1994, has never taken a paycheck, works 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and 365 days a year. The main hotline to the CUE Center goes directly to her cell in which she picks up no matter what. Mrs. Caison who became a advocate for the missing after being exposed to the families of missing persons at least three times before was 25 years old. She's not a cop. Or a private investigator. She's not a reporter, Social Work or Counselor. She's a hybrid of all of them - and asks for nothing in return. There's nowhere she can't or won't go for her cases. In 2010, Mrs. Caison worked over 540 cases; 300 were resolved in which 50% of the missing turned up alive. Mrs.Caison resides in Wilmington, NC with her husband, her k-9 working HRD dogs, has 5 grown children and one grandchild. Support from local and national sisterhood organizations Act as a liaison for families, media, agencies and law enforcement Financial aid/most cases Community and public awareness programs for missing victims Provide a variety of guest speakers and topics Finger printing/ photo ID programs /DNA technology Poster/ flyer distribution, to include internet distribution nationally Bill board (resources) Reward resources Safety/prevention workshops Organizing private and public meetings for case effort Utilize all areas of case resources and identifying case needs Provide spokesperson / advocate for missing person case Campaign force effort in locating the missing Counseling resources -- group, individual, grief, trauma Food, shelter, fuel provided for search teams and families of the missing Full complete investigative casework of missing person Support group and victim resources; homicide, abuse, rape and mental illness Bulk mailings project for missing persons Twenty four hour public TIP number to be provided for cases of the missing
