It is the obligation to operate the railroad, which makes the Nevada Northern Railway so distinctive. Instead of relics in glass cases, the Nevada Northern is a working steam railroad.

To insure that the museum can accomplish its mission, it launched the Phoenix Dare: a Capital Campaign to develop the financial resources needed to keep the railroad on track! The first project is to restore Nevada Northern Railway Locomotive 81. It was delivered here in 1917.
