Alfred Friendly Press Partners 2018 Annual Benefit Gala
Join us on Friday, Sept. 7 from 6-9 p.m. EDT for an engaging and enlightening evening as we lift up journalism around the world. Alfred Friendly Press Partners Fellows from emerging democracies will share thoughts about their fellowships in U.S. newsrooms. Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, daughter of the late Robert F. Kennedy, will provide remarks about her father's legacy and the importance of a free press at this critical time. Indonesian journalist Bambang Harymurti, a former Fellow, will receive the Susan Talalay Award for Outstanding Journalism for his bravery in the face of government pressures.
Throughout the reception and dinner we'll remember how Alfred Friendly was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for international reporting 50 years ago as he covered the Mideast for The Washington Post. Your support and attendance will strengthen the Friendly program and ensure journalists in the future are able to participate in this career-changing opportunity.
