Item Description
Lea Anderson, TearPours, mixed media, 24x24
I have contributed to the Harwood Art Center 12x12 show for several years now and I am also an instructor at the Harwood Art Center. This piece is called TearPours (like tearing paper), but I also like the other pronunciation of it as TearPours (like tears when you cry). I began this piece by tearing paper, gluing it down, and then pouring paint in various configurations on the surface and then I react to those decisions that I originally made by adding different media and texture and refining and bringing the piece to a point of culmination.
When I compare that process to a life situation, I feel that its similar to having unexpected events occur, potentially tragic situations, or difficult situations that you don't expect and then somehow you work with those and figure out how to make sense of them in your own life.
