This package is based on availability and valid from January 2nd to February 1st, 2013; and from April 1st to 30th, 2013 (*Jackson Hole ski area closes on April 7th, but there's a lot of backcountry skiing, and the Targhee ski area on the other side of the pass remains open later into April).

 Sustainable Business Model:

The Bentwood Inn is committed to operating in a sustainable manner - actively working to measure and reduce environmental impact in every area of operation including: water, energy, solid waste, landscaping and food preparation among others. At the Bentwood Inn, these green initiatives are an integral part of doing business, and all guests are invited to learn about the various sustainability efforts and share any suggestions during your stay.

 

 Comprehensive Environmental Audit:

The audit was conducted in May, 2008 in order to identify opportunities for energy and water conservation with a focus on green initiatives. The following actions have been implemented to date:

  • CFL lighting installed in all public areas of the property.
  • Composting of yard waste and non-recyclable cardboard initiated on-site.
  • All operations are powered by 100% renewable energy purchased from Lower Valley Energy.
  • 2,000 feet of round wire fencing removed from property to allow for obstacle free wildlife movement.
  • Recycling system in place for glass, aluminum and all JH allowable recyclables.
  • Natural product amenities in all guest rooms (soaps, shampoos, salt scrub) in compostable bottles.
  • Food purchases emphasize local and organic; supply lines with local vendors established.
  • Timer for on-demand hot water supply has been installed, to reduce heat loss during off-peak hours.
  • Carbon emissions calculated as a first step toward reducing and eventually offsetting CO2 emissions.
  • Use of 100% biodegradable and 100% compostable garbage bags, reusable grocery and produce sacks.

 

 Natural History Interpretation & Guest Education:

Bentwood Inn is committed to providing the opportunity to learn about the incredible natural history of the region. Natural History Library established in annex to the Great Room, currently stocked with over 150 titles about the natural and cultural heritage of the region.
