Artist Statement
"Art has always spoken to me. A frantic need to create, to explore, to capture & pinpoint an expression of what can not be explained, only documented as best we can with the tools available.
From a young age, I turned to poetry/prose as my means of conveying these senses. After 20 plus years I still write, but there was an ever increasing sense that words were becoming inadequate for the expression I desired.
I grew up among the art galleries of Rockland & Portland, Maine and thought of painting as something only the Masters were destined to achieve – a divine gift reserved for a select few. After the loss of three family members in the span of months, that notion was shattered & that familiar frantic need to create in the midst of loss surged forward at the end of a paint brush.
These paintings are the result."
This item was donated in memory of Osa Andreasson.
