Item Description

Are you planning a family party, special event or corporate function?  Add fun and elegance to your event with this duo's acclaimed musical stylings that can include classic pop songs by artists like The Beatles, Joni Mitchell, Sting, Stevie Wonder, Billy Joel, Eric Clapton and others! They also play standard jazz tunes lending their unique interpretations to material originally performed by artists such as Duke Ellington, Django Reinhardt, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Frank Sinatra and many others.

Flip and Larry first met when Larry came to teach at the studio that Flip owned and operated in Caldwell, NJ back in 1978. At the time Larry was finishing his degree at William Patterson University. They hit it off immediately, both musically and as friends. They started gigging together soon afterwards and performed in restaurants and at private parties. One of their early gigs was at the Backstage Cafe run by Olympia Dukakis. Even as they were pursuing separate professional paths with different bands they continued to get together on a weekly basis and developed a distinctive musical rapport and sound. During this time they secured numerous restaurant gigs, some of them lasting for as long as five years. They also made several appearances on local cable TV stations. In 2002 they were privileged to play for M. Night Shyamalan at a private affair hosted at his home.

Flip Peters has been performing and teaching in the New York Metro area since the early 70s. He got his first guitar at age 15 and immediately fell in love with the instrument. His first influences were folkies like Pete Seeger, Peter, Paul and Mary and of course Bob Dylan. At 16 he could sing and play dozens of songs and began writing his own. He also absorbed the music of the Beatles, Rolling Stones and other rock groups as well as jazz artists like Dave Brubeck, Miles Davis and Wes Montgomery. While attending Rutgers University he was introduced to Harry Leahey, with whom he studied for many years. He considers Harry a major influence. He also studied Classical Guitar at Rutgers. Larry Maltz has been performing in venues in the tristate area since the late seventies. He got his first guitar at age 14 and began a lifelong passion. Early influences were an eclectic mix - Jimi Hendrix, Doc Watson, Mississippi John Hurt, Wes Montgomery among others. After mastering fingerstyle solos he had figured out from records by Rev. Gary Davis and others he began performing and recording with numerous bands playing Jazz, R&B, Country, Bluegrass, Funk, Pop, and Classic Rock. Larry is a graduate of William Paterson University with a BA in Jazz Performance. He studied privately with Bob DeVos and Harry Leahey.
