The winning bidder will enjoy two nights in Appartement la Belle Vue, a beautiful one-bedroom apartment (sleeps 4) with modern amenities, in the heart of the beautiful resort town of Etretat in Normandy, just yards from the beach and 4 minutes to the town center. During your visit, the two of you will enjoy dinner at the panoramic ocean-view restaurant of Dominique Geulin's brother's restaurant, Le Belvedere. The restaurant offers: "Cuisine fine et de tradition; spécialités de poissons et fruits de mer suivant la saison; viandes et volailles." Make this stop part of your 4-day First Class Rail experience - explore the rest of France according to your wishes, on your own schedule and at your own pace. Note that the Normandy stopover (to be arranged for a mutually agreeable date with the donor) and the Rail Europe travel (2 persons on the same itinerary) must be completed within one year of the April 19 event date. Prior to leaving for Europe, you'll have lunch with Merrill McPeak here in Portland. McPeak, retired Air Force Chief of Staff, heads the American Battle Monuments Commission and can share with you his insights on the important history of the region you'll be visiting.
Items will be available for pickup at the event. Should an absentee or proxy bidder be the winner, he/she will make arrangements to pickup tangible items at the Alliance, the week following the event. Shipping in the U.S. is an option; winners will pay shipping.
