James Taylor will return this summer to perform a selection of songs that have made him one of the most beloved artists of our day. He will also perform songs from his new album. On July 4, Tanglewood presents The Essential James Taylor, featuring James with his extraordinary band of musicians.
Over the course of his long career, James Taylor has earned 40 gold, platinum and multi-platinum awards and five Grammy® Awards. His catalog includes: 1970's Sweet Baby James, Grammy® Award-winning Hourglass (1997), and October Road (2002). His most recent albums include One Man Band (2008), Covers (2009, nominated for two Grammy® Awards), in 2010, Live at the Troubadour and his most recent, The Essential James Taylor (2013). In Spring, 2015, Taylor will release his first album of new songs in 12 years. Taylor was inducted into both the Songwriter’s and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2002.
