Description

This silent auction item will be presented for final bidding at our annual picnic on Thursday, August 4th.

New York, New York!  Do you feel the Big Apple calling?  Plays, sight-seeing, fabulous restaurants, a walk in Central Park, shopping, unending nightlife... these memories could be made by you!

Conservancy members, Shawn Ricker and Steve Cacossa are graciously offering a 3-night weekend stay in their Manhattan apartment (Murray Hill area) for 4 fortunate people. The 2 bedroom, 2 bath penthouse has a two-level terrace with great views of the Empire State and Chrysler buildings. The terraces are very large by New York standards. Included is comfortable outdoor furniture and coffee tables on both levels. There is also a gas grill, in the rare case that you don't end up eating out during your stay in the big city. Please note--no smoking or pets, please.

A mutual time can be reached between Shawn and the highest bidder. And, because Shawn and Steve leave the city nearly every weekend, you may just be lucky enough to have your favorite weekend.

This weekend package includes a fabulous dining opportunity courtesy of Chef Mario Batali.

Enjoy a gift card for a fantastic dinner for 4 at one of Mario Batali's restaurants.

(Note: This is dinner at one of Mario Batali's restaurants, NOT a dinner cooked for you by Mario Batali.)

Mario Batali loves Leelanau County and has raised over $500,000 to help protect our working farms and agricultural heritage.  He says he helps to raise funds for farmland because:

“Among the most significant is my love for the unspoiled beauty and rural character of American farmland on the Leelanau Peninsula that could easily disappear without constant thought and management.  Local foods and wines are not only delicious and nutritious, but their mere existence here is a major economic driver in gastro-tourism, and they have a very positive effect on the perception and inspiration of the Cherry capital across the entire country.  Small farming is the backbone of American culture and a way of life that could easily slip away to big farming interests, or worse yet housing developments, if not properly cared for. My family counts on the Leelanau Peninsula’s farmland to keep it real for us.  Even when we are jammed up on the streets of Manhattan, we always know we can be back where we belong in a single day’s drive that takes us a million miles away.”

Item Special Note

The apartment is located in Murray Hill, on the southeast corner of Lexington avenue and 38th street.
