Join us to celebrate the spirit of hula and ukulele at the 5th Annual Kumukahi Ukulele & Hula Festival being held on August 11 & 12, 2017 at Sam’s Town Hotel & Casino. Kumukahi provides a platform to honor the foundations of ukulele and legacy hula (dances inherited from previous generations) and the stories that come with these songs, and the work of communities upholding these traditions.
On Friday, August 11th, we celebrate our Ukulele & Kupuna groups and our Soloists. On Saturday, August 12th, all Groups will showcase their legacy dances and newly choreographed Pua Hau O Maleka as well as Hula ‘Auana. This year’s Kanikapila, we are honored to have Kekoa & Pele (Suganuma) Harman ‘ohana share their legacy dances followed by Na Hoku Award winner Mark Yamanaka.
