This auction is for two people for 7 nights at a bed and breakfast in Vendee, France. Five star ratings on TripAdvisor! The property is in the countryside, so a car will be necessary.
In 2018 the available dates are July, August or September, pending availability.
In 2019 the available dates are June, July, August or September, pending availability.
The Space: Restored mill with wooden beams and working fireplaces just 10 kms south of Fontenay le Comte. We have a 3-key rating with Clévacances. All bedrooms have a private shower and toilet, hairdryer and tea and coffee facilities. All bed linen and towels are supplied. You may hire beach towels for a small supplement. Open all year. Animals allowed on request.
Although our availability looks like we are empty, please note that we are practically full on other dates, so please contact us as soon as possible to enquire if we have a room.
Further Details: Garden available but not fully enclosed. We are just 25 meters from the river L'Autize. Quiet location but well positioned to visit the Vendée and surrounding departments.
You are welcome to use our bicycles, free of charge. The beach area is just 4 kms from our house. The actual beaches are between 40 to 60 minutes depending on your choice.
The Pays de la Loire Region
Our region offers many activities from cycling, parasailing, gliding, canoeing, horse-back riding, etc. It is great for walking or cycling as the vast area of the Vendée is flat. We are just 3 kms from the famous Abbey that was once owned by Elionor of Aquitaine at Nieul sur L'Autize where on Thursdays your children can dress up and go back in time.
Just 8 kms is the Marais Poitevin where a promenade in a punt is a must with or without a guide (but it?s more fun without!). We have a micro climate, which makes us the second sunniest place in France. It doesn't matter what type of sport you are looking for our region can offer most of it. The golf course at Mazieres en Gatine is stunning ? not just the course but the château.
For those not into sports, you are catered for as well. Our local beach offers you relaxation without having to go far. Or perhaps a stroll around the Mervent Forest. Why not see what a working mine was like and its village?
The kids are catered for as well with Parc Pierre Brune where you can easily spend the day in its adventure park. Every Thursday at the local Abbey the kids can dress up and go back in time to the days of Richard the Lionheart. There's also the Abbey at Mailezais with its various spectacles during July and August. Fontenay le Comte has a market every Saturday morning, and there is a stunning market at Niort on Thursdays and Saturdays (just 20kms) or even more stunning the market at La Rochelle.
A little further away you have the Puy du Fou (one hour by car). Worth the ride as it is an excellent day out. Not forgetting Futuroscope. It?s not only entertaining, but educational!
Fontenay-le-Comte
Just 10kms from the Abbaye at Maillezais; 10 kms from the Venise Vert where a punt on the river should not be missed. Our village also boasts its own manmade beach with lake, which has been completely revamped. If you are lucky enough to be here on July 14th they have the most spectacular fireworks display, absolutely free. Mervent forest is just 10 mins by car, as is Vouvant where there are many horse and walking trails.
If you are into historic buildings you won't be disappointed ? from houses to churches to abbeys.
This auction is for one bedroom in a five-bedroom house. Common areas are shared.
Room is on the first floor so climbing stairs is necessary.
Breakfast is continental and includes homemade breads and croissants.
Louis Philippe style sleigh bed.
