Item Special Note

Panther Fencing is a developmental fencing club which allows individual fencers to set personal goals and work towards them in a supportive, friendly environment. The sport of fencing is often described as "Physical Chess" because the sport requires precise thought and decision-making while being active and executing the decided movements. However, fencers refer to practice and bouts as "playing", and the Panther club fully embraces the fun and camaraderie of the sport.  Panther fencers develop balance, muscle control, observation and critical thinking through conditioning, group drills open bouting and games.
In addition to achieving personal goals, Panther Fencers have received local and national recognition:

·     WSPFC has been featured in local news articles, on local news stations and on NBC in a feature called Game Changer .
·     Panther fencers qualify and compete every year in the US Fencing Association National Championship and Junior Olympics events.  Multiple Panthers have attained national rank. At the 2012 Nationals in Anaheim CA, 7 Panthers competed in 12 events. Some of the top finishers were Dean Ischiropoulos, who finished 30th in Junior Men's Epee, Fen Tamulonis, who finished 20th in Division 3 Men's Epee and Josh Herring, who finished 43 in Division 3 Men's Foil.
·     9 Panther Fencers have been named to the US Fencing All-Academic Team in the 3 years since it was established
·     Current and former Panther fencers compete on the college level at NYU, Sacred Heart, Northwestern, Columbia, and U Penn, Haverford, Carnegie Mellon and have competed at Temple, Muhlenberg and the NCAA Championships.
The Panther staff consists of 2 coaches certified in Foil, Epee, and Sabre, 6 USFA certified Armorer's, 4 Coaching Assistants and 9 Board Members. Practices are held at: The Performing Arts Complex, 101 Plush Mill Road, Wallingford, PA 19086
