Description
Win a Lifetime Adoption of Moucha, a young four-metre [13'] whale shark cataloged off Djibouti, Africa.
Moucha is a 4-metre whale shark photographed by Dr. Jennifer Schmidt of the Shark Research Institute in the Gulf of Tadjoura, Djibouti, earlier this year.
Moucha is named in honor of an island surrounded by a coral reef located at the mouth of the Gulf of Tadjoura.
Item Special Note
The objective of this auction is to spotlight individuals and organizations working effectively for ocean conservation, and raise funds for field research, education and conservation projects.
The Shark Research Institute began tagging and cataloging whale sharks in 1993 and some of them are available for adoption.
We hope that Moucha will be seen again (whale sharks are wild animals and follow their own paths through the ocean). Dr. Schmidt will be leading another expedition to Djibouti at the end of the year so if Moucha is spotted again, the guardian will be notified of the date and location where Moucha was seen and its behavior.
The winning bid is deductible from US Federal 2018 income taxes as a Charitable Donation. A tax receipt will be issued to the winning bidder.
