ALL IN A NAME
?
The Kennison's name pays homage to one of Chicago's most notorious legends, David Kennison. A fixture in the Lincoln Park neighborhood in the 1800s, Kennison came to Chicago and touted his grand past: being the last surviving member of the Boston Tea Party, a soldier of the revolutionary war, in addition to other outrageous exploits. He was so well-liked that when he passed away at the ripe old age of 115, his funeral had the largest attendance recorded at that time.

...It wasn?t until 50 years later that historians realized that Kennison was, in fact, 85 at his time of death?and was far too young to have been part of the Revolutionary War. In true ?Windy City" fashion, Kennison blew a lot of hot air about his past, but led an incredible life regardless. Kennison?s grave is marked with a boulder located directly across the street from the restaurant in Lincoln Park. Here, we salute one of Chicago's greatest con-men."
