Description

Ridge Vineyards has quietly been making world class wines in Dry Creek valley and the Santa Cruz mountains since 1969. Their showcase Lytton Springs vineyard has Zinfandel vines that were planted a century ago. Winemaker Paul Draper has been with the winery since the beginning, and has mastered the art of field blending.

Instead of picking individual varietals and blending them before bottling, Draper's team blends the grapes together at harvest in the field. This allows the unique characteristics of each varietal to comingle with the other grapes during fermentation.

Lytton Springs is a crowd pleaser with a foundation of Zinfandel and is complimented with Petit Sirah, Carignane and Mataro.

With a velvety texture and a rich bouquet of black fruits, licorice, ripe raspberry, fresh ground pepper, crushed dry sage and pencil shavings you'll have a hard time waiting to open this one. It's versatile with a wide range of comfort foods from wood fired pizzas to braised beef and other heart warming fare.

The winning bid not only receivs a magnum of Lytton Springs, but also receives a tasting for 4 at the legendary Ridge vineyards.

Former Robert Parker tasting expert, Antonio Galloni gave this wine 94 pts.
