Description

Small Cloisonné bowl complements the Large Cloisonné bowl listed in this auction.

Cloisonné is the traditional handicraft technique for decorating metalwork objects that have been practiced in China for centuries. This elegant cloisonné bowl features gorgeous peony flowers and birds atop a vivid blue backdrop. The complex line works across the entire bowl's body was meticulously created by utilizing the cloisonné technique of wire bending in the cloud pattern. Vibrant bird and flower motif make it an elegant showpiece wherever it is placed. It's a one-of-a-kind item to collect. Matching wooden stand is included.

This bowl and the other larger matching cloisonné bowl listing are mid-century purchased at auction in Hampton Virginia in 1989.  Donated from a local family estate to the Bayou Teche Museum Silent Auction.
