David R. Prentice is an accomplished and internationally known landscape painter. He has exhibited his work in the United States and Japan. Born in Hartford, CT in 1943, Prentice studied at the Art School of the University of Hartford from 1962 to 1964, after which he worked as a studio assistant to famed artists such as Jasper Johns, Robert Motherwell, and Helen Frankenthaler. By the 1960s, he had several solo shows throughout New York, including at Teuscher Gallery and Sonnabend Gallery. Prentice became associated with the Lyrical Abstraction movement, and later began incorporating figurative elements into his practice. His work can be found in several internationally known museums and public art institutions, including The Museum of Modern Art in New York, Yale University in New Haven, and the National Museum of American Art in Washington, D.C. He currently resides in NYC.
