Our 2017 Napa Valley Merlot is a perennial favorite at Flora Springs, an approachable wine with an easy-going texture that just hits all the pleasure buttons. The 2017 vintage draws on estate fruit from our sustainably-farmed vineyards in Oakville, St. Helena and Rutherford, properties we have owned and farmed for decades. This 100% Merlot spent 20 months in mostly French oak barrels and delivers flavors of ripe blueberries and cherry liqueur layered with luscious notes of vanilla wafers and dark chocolate. There?s a hint of chaparral that adds freshness to the palate along with warm traces of cardamom and cinnamon spice. This is a classic, beautifully-balanced Napa Valley Merlot, polished and rich with velvety tannins and a long, silky finish.
Our 2017 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon combines fruit from Flora Springs? sustainably-farmed estate vineyards in Rutherford, St. Helena, Oakville and Napa Valley. The hand harvested grapes were cold-soaked for several days to extract flavor and color prior to fermentation. Several lots underwent extended maceration to refine and soften the tannins, and all lots were aged in a combination of French (70%) and American (30%) oak barrels for 18 months prior to blending.
This Cabernet invites you in with bold aromas of blackberry, blueberry and black raspberry and a lovely hint of toasty oak. The flavors echo the aromas, with added notes of vanilla, sassafras, espresso and a hint of cedar. Bright acidity brings a nice tension to the wine, with elegant tannins bringing it to a long, satisfying finish.
