The story behind this piece:
Rustum Roy was an influential, highly regarded scientist who spent 60 years at PSU. After earning a doctorate in ceramic science at Penn State, he joined the faculty as an assistant professor, rose to the rank of professor of geochemistry and was named an Evan Pugh professor, Penn State's highest faculty rank, in 1981. One of his many achievements was establishing the Materials Research Laboratory and serving as its first director.
An outstanding aspect of his life was his capacity and dedication to breaking artificial boundaries in order to integrate science, religion, education, health, art and social action for human benefit.
