Description: My Hyper Striper, entitled FinTinTin, is inspired by the traditional New England weathervane topper with a nod to another craft: the quilt. The tin ceiling tiles give it the sculptured metal look. They are embossed with patterns using the beautiful metal colors of brass, copper, bronze and silver. Once the tiles were cut in the shape of fish scales, they became interlocked creating a design reminiscent of quilts. The fine metal tubing on the glossy fins gives the striper a modern vibe. The back of FinTinTin is finished with painting and printing using the same metallic colors found on the front.
About the Artist: I am a retired art teacher having worked in the Beverly Public Schools for my whole career. Most of my work has been by commission, painting and drawing, using pen and ink and colored pencil. Having more time now, for my own art, I have been exploring new mediums and revisiting some old favorites. Currently I have joined a group of watercolorists and have discovered the world of "plein air painting".
