Rare First Edition Yonkers Illustrated, 1902

Issued by The Department of Publicity of The Yonkers Board of Trade. George Rayner Jr., Manager. Original 1902 first edition. 192 pages. Book measures 8.25" x 11.50". Very Good condition with some cover wear, but clean, crisp pages.

Yonkers Illustrated gives a history of the City of Yonkers and is filled with beautiful vintage black and white photographs taken over 120 years ago, including public buildings, businesses and stores, commercial structures, banks, firehouses, houses of worship, schools, street views, parks, hospitals, clubs and organizations and more. Plus over 160 photos of private homes and mansions.

This is an extremely rare treasure seldom seen for sale and is a wonderful narrative and pictorial book that vividly presents the Yonkers of our ancestors.

Laura Vookles, chair of the Hudson River Museum curatorial department, adds: "We are fortunate to have an original copy of Yonkers Illustrated as part of the Museum's archives related to the City's history. As a visual record of residential, business, and religious life at the turn of the twentieth century, it is unsurpassed, and I consult it frequently."
