Description
The Y is the starting point for many youth to learn about becoming active and developing healthy habits they will continue throughout their lives. In a Y sports program, your child will meet friends, learn new skills, improve his or her fitness and most importantly have fun! Teams will have experienced and trained coaches for all age levels.
Competitive Basketball League (ages 8 - 17)
Our competitive basketball league gives boys & girls a chance to go beyond our recreational league. Coaches are allowed to register a whole team and keep the team together over the years. Emphasis is on player development through higher level competition. Our competitive league still promotes healthy kids, family and community by placing a priority on family involvement, healthy competition and sportsmanship. Our competitive league includes 10 practices, 8 games & season-ending tournament.
Recreational Basketball League (ages 6 - 11)
From dribbling, lay-ups, and free throws, the YMCA?s recreational basketball program teaches fundamentals of basketball and provides youth with a positive basketball experience. Through regular practices and games, teammates gain a strong knowledge of basketball including shooting, passing, defense and more. Plus they have fun and learn teamwork, which leads to a lifelong love of basketball. Our recreational league includes 10 practices & 8 games.
Volleyball League (ages 9 - 17)
The YMCA leagues are open to all kids age 9 ? 17. Recreational leagues for ages 9 ? 11 and competitive leagues for age 9 ? 17. Our Youth Volleyball leagues are the only non-competitive leagues available to the youth of Albuquerque and one of the only youth leagues outside of the APS system. Your child will have the opportunity to learn the basic fundamentals such as underhand serving, setting, hitting, and digging in a positive environment.
Our competitive volleyball league includes 10 practices, 8 games & season-ending tournament.
Our recreational volleyball league includes 10 practices & 8 games.
