Description

Chef-Prepared Lebanese Dinner for six (6) + 3 Bottles of Wine

Gather together for a home-cooked traditional Lebanese meal prepared for you by trained chef and SBS kindergarten parent Rhiana Moussa Fortelny!

Imagine this special evening: The sights and sounds of Lebanon abound. Experience legendary Arabic hospitality, you and your lucky group will be transported to the Levant as you sip your beverages and feast on mezze while listening to Fariouz and the scent of spices waft through the air. The menu can be tailored to your preferences.

Rhiana was classically trained at the California Culinary Academy, and honed her skills working as a private chef on both coasts and crafting recipes for her semi-successful food blog. Her REAL training however was under the harsh eye of her grandmother who's standards would not be compromised and wielded a heavy wooden spoon.

Also included in this special lot are three bottles of wine, which may be paired with the dinner or enjoyed at another time:
Elkins Wines 2021 Petaluma Gap Riesling 750ml - 1 bottle
Starmont 2018 Carneros Pinot Noir 750ml - 1 bottle
Pott Wines 2019 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 750ml - 1 bottle

Location: To be agreed upon by Rhianna and the winning bidder. Must be within Napa Valley.
Preferred timing: Summer 2023
Expiration date: February 6, 2024

Elkins Wines, 2021 Riesling, Chileno Valley Vinyard, Petaluma Gap, 750mL - 1 Bottle

Located on the southern border of the Petaluma Gap American Viticultural Area, Chileno Valley Vineyard is an extremely cool and windy site. With naturally low yields, the fruit from this vineyard comes with great concentration of aroma and flavor. The lower temperatures and windy days keep acid high and sugar low as the grapes reach their prefect ripeness of flavor. The naturally high acid helps inhibit the growth of any malolactic bacteria, which is why we could bottle with minimal sulfur and no filtration.

"First and foremost, we are making wines that we like to drink. Not only because of how they taste, but also because of how they were made and what they represent. Made using sustainably grown grapes, our wines are made in a way that showcases vintage, varietal, and location. To achieve this, we implement a low-input style of winemaking that lets the fruit do the talking. The wines are then bottled unfiltered, with minimal sulfur, and without the use of fining or stabilizing additives."    - Matt Elkin

Starmont - 2018 Pinot Noir, Carneros, Napa Valley - 1 bottle

WINEMAKING
The fruit was handpicked, then carefully sorted upon arrival at the winery. The wine underwent both native and inoculated fermentation, native malolactic fermentation, and was fermented using both open and closed-top tanks. The wine was barrel aged for 11 months in 15% new French oak with 8 months on primary lees before being racked and blended back to barrel for 3 more months on light lees. The wine was racked once more for bottling and bottled unfined.

TASTING NOTES
This is a regional expression of Carneros Pinot Noir sourced from multiple vineyards on the Napa side of Carneros. Ours is a seleccion masal Pinot Noir, not meant to express a single clone or vineyard. The goal of this wine is to retain a varietal correctness with a sense of place. We enjoy Carneros Pinot Noir, because although the fruit presents itself readily, there is an undercurrent of 'Pinot funk' and an earthy element that adds complexity both on the nose and the palate. Judicious use of new oak, just 15%, adds both to the nose and the texture of the wine, but still allows the fruit to be front and center. The 2018 is pale ruby in color with aromas of black cherry, kirsch and graphite supported by undertones of a briny minerality lifted by hints of juniper. A tight entry on the palate is bolstered by medium weight on the mid-palate that melts into lingering, velvety tannins on the finish.
