Originally started as Matunuck Oyster Farm, an aquaculture oyster farm, founder Perry Raso opened the restaurant in 2009 as a place to sell fresh oysters from the farm. Since then, he has started growing organic vegetables, and recently opened a shellfish hatchery across the street in order to provide diners with the freshest ingredients. Guests can also participate in an oyster farm tour to see exactly where their dinner is coming from. Matunuck is frequently featured on Rhode Island and New England "Best of" lists.
Matunuck Oyster Bar is open year round, and waterside and inside dining are available every day Monday-Thursday 12-9pm, Friday 12-10pm, and Saturday/Sunday 11:30am-9pm.
