For both first-generation Canadians and migrants, this can be a trip of healing, self-care, and rest. However, visiting the homeland is a privilege and not accessible to everyone.
Destination Djibouti traite de la relation d'Abdourahman et de sa famille avec leur « chez-soi » à Djibouti et des difficultés qui surgissent lorsqu'ils tentent de rentrer chez eux. Pour les Canadiens de première génération comme pour les migrants, il peut s'agir d'un voyage de guérison, de soins personnels et de repos. Visiter la patrie est cependant un privilège et n'est pas accessible à tout le monde.

Sarah-Mecca Abdourahman has been awarded the Salt Spring National Art Prize Joan McConnel Award and is a recipient of the Canada Council of the Arts grant (2023). She has previously exhibited at the Ottawa City Hall (2023), Digital Art Resource Centre (2022), Gallery 101 (2022), and Ottawa Art Gallery (2021).
