Description

This dramatic hillside site lies on the eastern border of the Sta. Rita Hills and is one of the coolest sites planted to Rhone varietals in all of California. Each block contains a different clone and rootstock combination (470 on 5BB, Estrella and 383 are own rooted). The steep hillside soils are clay-loam over limestone. The cool wind and fog at this site provide for an extremely long season. These grapes produce a dark, intensely aromatic wine, with cool black and blue berry fruits, great freshness, mineral lift and solid structure for aging.

About Dragonette

Inspired by the great wines of the world, and following in the footsteps of our mentors and inspirations, we (partners John and Steve Dragonette and Brandon Sparks-Gillis) formed Dragonette Cellars a decade ago, committing ourselves to the ideal of personally handcrafting wines of distinction from the finest vineyard sites in Santa Barbara County. This commitment meant that we would get our hands dirty; personally executing each step in the wine growing and wine making process, from vineyard management decisions, to harvest (often in multiple passes through the blocks), to fermentation, and finally to blending and bottling. We knew that only through our constant and meticulous attention to detail, underpinned by experience and overriding passion could our wines reach their full potential.
