Andrew Wyeth

Born to an artistic father, Newell Convers Wyeth in Chadds For, Pennsylvania, Andrew Wyeth made a name of rhimself in watercolr and tempera. Renowned for hgis country landscapes and natural settings of Pennsylvania and the family summer home in Maine, he had his first one-man show at age 20. He married Betsey James two years later and had two sons, Nicholas and James. Wyeth has been featured on the cover of "American Artist" and 'The Saturday Evening Post' throughout his career. He has received numerous awards, including Award of Merit from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, 1947; Second Prize, "Painting in the United States", Carnegie Institute, Pittsburgh 1948; Popular Prize, "Carnegie International", Pittsburgh 1958; and the Presidential Medal of Freedom 19634.
