Ak was born in Istanbul in 1972. After finishing high school, he started his career in trade at the Grand Bazaar instead of attending university. He initially started in the leather industry and then moved into the carpet sector. He has been in this industry for over 30 years, dealing with international carpet export and production.
His journey into carpet portraits began when an Italian client asked him to create a collection for that year. Later, as they considered creating a collection for our own company, he began exploring innovative ways to blend carpet art with portraiture, leading to a new artistic endeavor. Following his initial works, he received my first design award in 2024.
He has been featured in various newspapers and magazines, and in June, he will have an extensive interview published in Hedef magazine. He finds the culmination of his experience in the carpet industry and the recognition and support he has received, including awards, are the most rewarding aspects of his career. With this support and interest, he continues his work with great enthusiasm.
Item Special Note
Rugs are linen, quilted and woven with recycled fabrics that make up the design. Each rug measures 2' x 3'.
