Description

Most Romantic Item, ever!  (And 110 years old, wow!)  Rare to find in such beautiful condition, this ?Double Locket? was donated by the Owner?s Original Family (who gave this Locket to his Sweetheart when he was drafted to fight in World War I.  See photos.)  This VICTORIAN ERA LOCKET was made by ?Wightman & Hough?, a Jeweler operating from 1856 to 1922 (which authenticates the Locket?s true age).  Inside is their Maker?s Insignia of ?W&H Co? (enclosed in a heart-shape).  This company was known worldwide for their high-quality ?rolled gold? and solid gold Jewelry, particularly for sentimental lockets, and had the slogan ?There?s a heart in every Locket?, referring to their Mark inside).

The Locket?s style is ?Art Nouveau Repousse? (which incorporated engraved florals, hearts, and paste rhinestones).  The size is 1.25? high and 1.16? wide ? and typical of popular ?Victorian Mourning Jewelry? of that Era (with a tiny ringlet of hair tucked inside, belonging to the Soldier.  It hinges on one side and opens and closes securely, with a tight ?snap?.  The Locket is in excellent condition for its age and has space for a photo on either side; the back of the Heart is plain (where the New Buyer could add their OWN monogram).   And? it comes with a Story and Happy Ending.  The Soldier returned from World War I in 1919, married his Sweetheart in 1920, raised a family ? and lived to be 89 years old.  The Locket was passed through the Family for several generations and then donated to H2O Planet.  This item can be shipped nationwide to the Winning Bidder (with insurance) or picked up for FREE in Enfield, CT after the Auction.  (And will include copies of Family Photos and Military Records, to align with the Romantic Story).
