Special adoption considerations: Spencer should not live with kids at this time as he works on overcoming his insecurities. He will need an experienced and confident adopter who is ready to work with a trainer from the beginning to help build Spencer's confidence and form a strong relationship. We will ask for proof of hiring a trainer! Spencer can climb fences so cannot be off leash or will need a home with a securely fenced yard.
Spencer is Looking For: An experienced and committed adopter who will work with me on training from day one! I have been pretty nervous lately and need someone who can read my body language and give me space when I need it. I need an adopter who is confident and can set clear boundaries. Someone who will be patient and consistent, and who will help me work on training to become the best boy I can be! I'm super smart and would love to work on training throughout the day. I'll need lots of exercise, too! I like other dogs and do well in day care, but sometimes I have trouble greeting other dogs on leash, so I'll need a strong adopter who will work on redirecting me and managing behavior. I'm a happy and relaxed boy in the home. I love to hang out and snuggle up on the couch. I promise I'm worth it, if you're willing to put in the work!
What My Foster Says About Me: Spencer is affectionate and really smart. He loves his toys and loves to run around in the back yard. He loves to play fetch with his favorite toy -- a squeaky ball. Spencer is a chewer and will need lots of toys that he is allowed to chew on to his heart's content! He is working on crate training. We are also working on other training, and he has mastered "sit." We are working on "stay" and using treats and lots of praise!
TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $350, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter.
