Item Description
Ten students will have the weekend of a lifetime immersing themselves in the world of Harper Lee's Southern classic novel "To Kill a Mockingbird". The students will join Mrs. Susanne Greenwood, Mrs. Judy Guebert, and Mrs. Kathy Powers as they lead an overnight trip to Monroeville, Alabama, childhood home of the author and setting of the novel and 1962 film. Visit the county courthouse, replicated as a set in Hollywood, walk Harper Lee's neighborhood, and see a theatrical performance of the book at the courthouse, followed by a reception. And if this were not enough, this year only, the students will have the opportunity to meet Mary Badham, the actress who played Scout in the movie, and attend a seminar called "Sharing Scout's Secrets" with Ms. Badham. Date: May 14-15, 2011 for ten 8th or 9th grade students only! Package Includes: hotel, transportation, tickets to the Mockingbird play performance and "Secrets" seminar and Sunday breakfast. $225/per student.
