Item Description
This book and recording have been made by many hands, hearts and voices in an expression of love, wonder, gratitude, and concern that all our contributors—songwriters, artists, engineers, book makers, educators, photographers, and authors—feel for our home planet Ten thousand words could hardly describe the profound importance of sustaining and nurturing this earth We hope the 42 songs in this collection will serve as a worthy and compelling start - Jessica Baron, Founder and Executive Director of Guitars in the Classroom
The Green Songbook presents popular and fun, inspirational songs about the environment that promote healthy lifestyles and eco-aware choices. Participating songwriters and artists include Jack Johnson, Ziggy Marley, Pete Seeger, Joni Mitchell, the Banana Slug String Band, Tom Chapin, and many others. Proceeds raised from the sale of this item will go to support Guitars in the Classroom's free teacher training programs. Our mission is to transform pre-k through high school classrooms by training teachers to integrate musical learning in lessons in order to increase student engagement, employ oral language practice, and promote student achievement across the academic curriculum. In our free workshops, teachers learn to sing with confidence, play guitar, lead songs, and to select, teach, and facilitate the student writing of educational songs. This daily integration of music with academic learning provides positive, inspiring musical access for all students as part of the regular school day.
