Item Description
It's a Pickle Party!
Imagine biting into a crisp, tart, delightful pickle, either from a lovely cheese plate or in your favorite sandwich. Now imagine that YOU made that pickle!
This workshop is for all the aspiring homesteaders out there who
want to show their friends (and themselves) what they are capable of in the kitchen, and who are hereby resolved to make their favorite veggies last far past their season. In this four-hour workshop you will learn how to make pickles using recipes and techniques that can be applied to the bounty of all seasons...safely and deliciously. We will learn how to make and customize a basic brine, can safely, and prepare three seasonal pickle recipes. You will leave with your own fresh-made pickles and a set of recipes so you can make more at home. The afternoon will include light fare and wine, and the excellent company of your BHDS compatriots.
Date: Sunday, May 5, 2013. Time: 1 – 5 PM.
Hosted at the home of Ruth Katz and Michael Rapaport, taught by Amalia Egri Freedman.
