Item Description
This year's Fund-a-Need items focus on special requests from our school staff. Help fund a need by contributing to the purchase of much needed items for our school by updating our classroom technology, setting up our new Upper Elementary classroom, and purchasing books for our library. Our staff, teachers and students will really appreciate it!
This item is to purchase two full sets of hardcover books that support the Changemakers curriculum in teaching students about brave and compassionate individuals who act to make the world a more just and equitable place. Major goals of the curriculum are to empower students to act in the world about things that are important to them and to allow students to see themselves reflected in what is taught at school. Books to be purchased include the following:
- Matthew and Tilly by Rebecca C. Jones
- One by Kathryn Otoshi
- Arnie and the New Kid by Nancy Carlson
- Sam's New Fried by Thierry Tobberecht
- Stand in my Shoes! Kids Learning about Empathy by Bob Sornson
- The Lion and the Little Red Bird by Elisa Kleven
- Courage by Bernard Waber
- Life Doesn't Frighten Me by Maya Angelou
- The Story of Ruby Bridges by Robert Coles
- The Recess Queen by Alexis O'Neill
- The Lorax by Dr. Seuss
