Item Description

Each season, the Utah Shakespeare Festival uses hundreds of yards of fabric. Your cash gift can help create what you see and experience at the Festival.

Did you know...

  • It doesn't stop at buying the fabric for the Festival: Some fabric is dyed, silk screened, or otherwise changed in the dye shop before being made into costumes. After costumes are completed, they are sometimes also aged or distressed to look old or worn.
  • Over 500 miles of sewing thread is used in a season.
  • Over fifty staff and volunteers create more than 450 costumes each season. That adds up to over 22,000 work hours.
  • During the season, more than sixty loads of laundry are done each week to maintain the costumes. And that's not counting the hand-washing or dry cleaning!
  • The costume department is not the only department using fabric: For example, the tree that was part of the set in the Festival's 2011 production of A Midsummer Night's Dream had over 39,700 leaves, each individually cut from over 750 square yards of fabric. That is enough to cover 1.5 football fields!

Item Special Note

If you would like 100 percent of your donation to go to the Utah Shakespeare Festival, please use the "Donate Cash" button on the left side of the screen and donate to the Annual Fund. Any donations made through the "Buy Now" feature on BiddingForGood.com require the Festival to pay a small processing fee, which the Festival can avoid if you use the "Donate Cash" button.
