Item Description

Come join EB parents Marie-Elise Sallat and Jose-Luis Villasante in the home of fellow EB parents Suna Yalaz-Angell and Jonathon Angel, for a culinary excursion to Peru!

Spend the afternoon learning to make all the essentials of Peruvian cuisine: pisco sours, ceviche, and alfajores.

A pisco sour is THE signature drink of Peru. The drink's name comes from pisco, which is its base liquor, and the cocktail term sour, in reference to its citrus juice component.

Peruvian ceviche is a traditional dish widely eaten in Peru. The method of preparing it is different to that of ceviche in other places, using lemon, fish, potatoes and other foods. In Peru, ceviche has been declared to be part of Peru's "national heritage."

In South America, alfajores have been transformed to take on the shape of thin sandwich cookies filled with a variety of sweet spreads like ganache, jam, and dulce de leche. It’s the creamy dulce de leche filling that sets the Peruvian alfajores apart from the rest of the South American variations. Make any occasion special with a batch of these Peruvian alfajores. Or better yet, make yourself a batch and sweeten your afternoon coffee break with a traditional Peruvian treat.
