Item Description

Originally designed for Vermont Institute of Natural Science (VINS) in 2020, this is the first outdoor bench designed by Charles Shackleton using Black Locust (Robinia pseudoacacia). Black locust is grown in the North East America including Vermont. It is locally grown, sustainable and extremely rotproof. Traditionally used for fence posts and such like, the old timers say, “that it lasts one year longer than stone”.

This six-foot bench has been designed to reflect the tops of the forest canopy, as seen at VINS in Quechee, from their canopy walk. This bench not only makes a very comfortable seating spot, with its ergonomically designed seat, but also works excellently as a garden viewpoint.

Item Special Note

It can be ordered with your own logo or favorite quote and used as thoughtful place to remember an important anniversary or in memory of a lost loved one.

This item will not be shipped or delivered. It is pick-up only. The winning bidder will be contacted by a VINS staff member after the auction.
