Item Description
One-and-one-half-hour chamber ensemble coaching session. Location of the lesson is at the discretion of the instructor.
Chicago native Norbert Nielubowski has joined the Minnesota Orchestra twice: in 1987 as second bassoon and in 1993 as contrabassoon. He has frequently performed at Orchestra chamber music concerts, and in February 2010 he played Schoenberg’s Wind Quintet on the Chamber Music at MacPhail series.
Nielubowski has extensive chamber music and solo experience, including numerous performances as part of Sommerfest and the Orchestra’s additional chamber music series. He a member of the Musical Offering, a chamber ensemble consisting primarily of Minnesota Orchestra members. His many festival appearances include performances at the Strings in the Mountains Festival in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and the Alexandria Festival of the Lakes in Alexandria, Minnesota.
Before joining the Minnesota Orchestra, Nielubowski served as contrabassoon of the Chicago Lyric Opera Orchestra, as well as principal bassoon of the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, the Colorado Music Festival Orchestra and the Contemporary Chamber Players at the University of Chicago. He has worked as a studio musician in Los Angeles and Chicago on various projects, including several motion picture soundtracks. His principal teachers have been Willard Elliot, John Miller and Louis Skinner.
