Item Description
Book was written by John K. Terres with illustrations by Charles L. Ripper
John Terres, former editor of Audubon magazine arrived in Chapel Hill, NC in 1961 planning to complete the Encyclopedia of North American Birds. That project took a back seat for most of the decade as John became captured by the wild nature of the old Mason Farm fields and woodlands of the University of North Carolina, now the Mason Farm Biological Reserve managed by the North Carolina Botanical Garden. John described his experiences as "some of my finest adventures in the natural world" and John Terres’ accounts of his adventures has become a classic of natural history story telling.
The out of print 1969 first edition hard cover copy offered here is a used copy in nearly new condition with no markings nor other damage.
