Item Description
This Eco Safari, donated by The Earth Organization, is truly the experience of a lifetime! You will begin your trip in Durban, South Africa with a 3-night stay, in gracious accommodations, at the exclusive, 5-star Woodhall Guesthouse. You will be picked up at the Durban Airport by your Eco Safari host, and transported to your lodgings - a beautiful, historic Tudor mansion set amongst tranquil gardens within a secure estate. Breakfast is included each morning, and the winning bidders of this unique journey will have plenty of time to tour the lovely city and surrounding areas. Enjoy world-class golf courses, shopping, beautiful beaches, year-round snorkeling, seasonal whale watching, zip line canopy tour in the jungle, wine tasting and many historical and cultural sites.
Following your visit to Durban, you will join your group, accompanied by your Eco Safari host, and travel to the exclusive Thula Thula Private Game Reserve, where you will spend a combination of 3 nights in a 4-star luxury tent, and 2 nights in a 5-star luxury cabin - all the time participating in a fun-filled, relaxing, enchanting and enlightening experience. At Thula Thula, enjoy three gourmet meals a day prepared by Francoise Anthony, a Cordon Bleu chef - including candlelit dinners and traditional South African barbecues. In addition, you will enjoy afternoon snacks, coffee and tea.
Twice daily, you will experience guided game drives or bush walks. A visit to the local Zulu village is part of this amazing trip, along with many educational opportunities, a day assisting the local residents of the Zulu Village (optional), various Zulu entertainment, such as Zulu warrior dances around the fire and Zulu choir beneath the stars, relaxing in the swimming pool and selecting souvenirs in the gift shop. The safari will end with a Farewell Celebration Dinner.
Lawrence Anthony owns and operates Thula Thula Exclusive Private Game Reserve. For his almost mythical relationship with wild elephants, his extraordinary rescue of animals in the Baghdad Zoo during the Iraqi war, and his negotiations with rebels in the Congolese jungle to save the highly endangered Northern White Rhino, he has been dubbed "The Elephant Whisperer" and "The Indiana Jones of Conservation" by CNN, BBC, CBS, Men's Journal, Elle Magazine, and others. A popular book about the zoo rescue was written titled Babylon's Ark: The Incredible War-Time Rescue of the Baghdad Zoo, and a major Hollywood feature film is being produced about him.
