Item Description
"Sisters Serving Sisters" Quilt
The figures in this quilt display an image of serenity, necessary for young women training to become a geisha.
Rather than serving men, these figures seem to be enjoying the company of each other in their daily routine of sewing, dressing, and serving tea.
While it is understood that jealousy and competition exited in the houses of the geisha, these images reflect the strong bonds of sisterhood.
