Item Description
TWO or THREE PERSONS will join an Idaho Fish and Game wildlife biologist on an half-day-early morning (departure at 5:30 am) trip to observe and count male sage grouse performing their springtime mating ritual in the sagebrush flats near Leadore, Idaho.
Learn about the biology and habitat requirements of Idaho's sage grouse. Male sage grouse gather in areas called leks each spring to display for females in hopes of the opportunity to mate. Each spring, biologists count the birds present on groups of leks, called lek routes, to monitor changes in sage grouse populations. Definitely an entertaining sight to see so bring warm clothing and binoculars! You will need to provide snacks and water.
The 2009 winning bidders (and long-time auction supporters) learned alot about sage grouse lek counts and found it "fascinating to watch".
TRIP AVAILABLE MARCH 29 through MAY 7, 2010.
Winning bidders need to provide transportation to Salmon or Leadore, Idaho.
Item Special Note
Recommend winning bidders reserve a hotel room prior to early morning survey!
Winning bidders will be contacted by Idaho Fish and Wildlife Foundation office staff. Trip dates are non-negotiable.
PLEASE NOTE: An additional charge of 3.45% credit card fee, plus 35 cents per transaction will be applied to the winning bid price of each item. A 6% Idaho Sales Tax will be added to the final bid price for all land-based trips. For all navigable water-based trips, no sales tax will be charged due to Federal law. All sales are final.
