Item Description
TWO PERSONS will experience a beautiful hike in Idaho's Sawtooth National Forest to locate a wolf pack using radio telemetry to conduct a wolf pup count. The trip entails a 3+hour drive to a remote area and subsequent hike to the wolf pack. You will be accompanied by an Idaho Department of Fish and Game biologist.
Once you get close to the wolves you will be sneaking in as quietly as possible towards a radio-marked wolf. You will then sit quietly and wait for howling to start. This allows you to get a good bearing on the pack in order to sneak in and obtain a count and hopefully view some pups.
You will also have an opportunity to test your wolf howling skills. The idea is to get in and count the wolves without being seen or heard.
Winning bidders must be in good physical condition, able to walk on potentially difficult terrain in the dark and be exceptionally patient. The trip may require sitting very quietly for an extended length of time and/or hike very long distances in the dark.
Total trip time will be from around noon to midnight. Camping is an option and will be up to the winning bidder.
Winning bidders need to bring binoculars, good hiking shoes, weather appropriate clothing, insect repellant, sunscreen, headlamp, water, camping gear if donor wishes to camp.
All meals will be provided if you camp; dinner and snacks will be provided on a day trip.
TRIP VALID JUNE 15 THROUGH AUGUST 15, 2010 (holidays excluded).
Winning bidder provides transportation to the trail site.
