Item Description

Discover the Outback with this eco-friendly package! We've included the book, Quest for the Tree Kangaroo: An Expedition to the Cloud Forest of New Guinea, the DVD set, Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom: Australia's Awesome Animals, and a Kangaroo tagua nut figurine.

In the Quest for the Tree Kangaroo, Montgomery & Bishop document their participation in an expedition to the rugged and remote cloud forest of Papua New Guinea in search of the elusive and fascinating Matschie's tree kangaroo. Biologist Lisa Dabek heads a team of scientists from around the world who work with local guides to locate the creatures and fit them with radio collars to learn more about them. Bishop's photographs capture the expedition in detail. Stunning close-ups of plants, insects, and birds vie for attention with panoramas of moss-draped trees in the eerie, ancient forest. Montgomery describes both the hardships and exhilaration of the enterprise. She also introduces readers to some of the local people dedicated to conservation efforts.

The Mutual of Omaha's Wild kingdom: Australia's Awesome Animals is the Emmy award-winning nature series that has captivated audiences for years. Follow legendary hosts Marlin Perkins, Jim Fowler, Stan Brock, and Tom Allen through the years as they take viewers around the globe to study animal behavior and their struggle for survival. This specific DVD set includes 10 episodes featuring the many animals of the Australian Outback.

Our adorable kangaroo tagua nut figurine was skillfully hand-carved by artisans from Ecuador. The tagua carving displays intricate, lifelike detail from the shapely body to the textured coat. This remarkable, handcrafted kangaroo is a work of art that will be cherished and last a lifetime. The Tagua Nut, also called ivory nut or vegetable ivory. Tagua, (pronounced TAH-gwa) is a small nut grown on a palm tree in the rainforests of South America. Due to its close resemblance to animal ivory, it is hoped that this natural product will lessen the threat to the elephant from the ivory trade. The advantage of the tagua nut is that it is a renewable resource, unlike the elephant. Tagua products are all produced according to FAIR TRADE practices and encourage local economies. By purchasing tagua nuts, you can help protect elephants from the illegal ivory trade, fosters a respect for the rainforests, which are disappearing at an alarming rate and promotes social well being.
