FANNY BRICE as BABY SNOOKS
Always dressed in character-appropriate pre-teen costume, Funny Girl Fanny Brice played the mischievous Baby Snooks for almost 40 years, from her days in Vaudeville to the 1936 Follies and, on radio, right up until her death in 1951. Here we see Snooks dressed for Sunday dinner, though this doesn’t mean she’ll look so spic & span once food is on the table. She’s dressed in a blue cotton print dress with white “Peter Pan” collar trimmed with lace, black rickrack and mother of pearl buttons. Snooks is especially demure in white eyelet lace panties and petticoat, lace -trimmed cotton socks with black patent leather Mary Janes, and, of course, her signature starched white satin hair bow. The ensemble is topped off by a large lollypop, which will probably end up in kid brother Robespierre’s hair. Also included is a double compact disc of radio’s The Baby Snooks Show – a ratings winner from 1944 on – which starred Brice with Hanley Stafford as her perpetually beleaguered “Daddy.”
