Carl Pope’s multi-media investigations of the hidden histories were shown at prestigious venues including the Museum of Modern Art and the Museum of Contemporary Photography in Chicago. Pope’s work gained international exposure in Black Male at the Whitney Museum of American Art. Pope’s private installation of letterpress posters, The Bad Air Smelled of Roses and his recent billboard/poster public artworks focuses on the mind as the primary space for personal and social change. Pope was an Assistant Professor at SUNY-Stony Brook and the University of Illinois at Chicago.
