Item Description
Young School parents Amy & Jerry Giaquinta and Anne-Marie Failla & Ehren Jordan invite 4 couples to a day of Napa Valley’s best in food and wine. Start your day with intimate exclusive tours of 3 local artisanal purveyors of organic produce and livestock who supply some of the most storied restaurants in the Napa Valley. We begin in Carneros with Scotty Boggs, the Ranch Manager at Hudson Ranch, who will introduce you to their prized heritage breeds of poultry and pigs which regularly grace the menus of A16, Ad Hoc, La Toque and Tra Vigne. Next it’s on to Jacobsen Farms in Yountville, exclusive purveyors to The French Laundry and often referred to as the ""culinary dream works"" team for the amazing diversity of their figs, tomatoes, and edible flowers. It is here that Amy nurtures her organic seed company, YountvilleSeeds.com, with partners Peter and Gwen Jacobsen who will join Amy to demonstrate tomato-planting techniques to use on the 3 custom heirloom starts that Amy has for each couple to take home. Then it’s on to The French Laundry for a Culinary Garden Tour with master gardener Tucker Taylor who has created and designed a garden of visual beauty. A copy of The French Laundry Cookbook for each couple should unlock the mysteries of this iconic kitchen. We will cap off our day by retiring to the Giaquintas' light-filled home in St. Helena for a spring feast. Enjoy wines from Failla, Hill Family, Retro Cellars, and Olabisi as chef Debra Pollack tempts you with the spoils of the season. A graduate of the culinary school at Tante Marie in San Francisco, Deborah Pollack founded Local Eden in 2008 where she creates exquisite organic cuisine for the Marin Farmer's Market and caters for private individuals and events. Capping off this stunning meal will be a seasonal dessert provided by Bouchon Bakery’s fabulous pastry chef, Matt McDonald.
Item Special Note
All tours and dinner are scheduled for Saturday, May 1, 2010.
