Item Description
Talk about taking care of his constituency! Northern California’s very own congressman, Mike Thompson, is going to host you and your family in the Nation’s Capital. Plan this quintessential trip into history during one of the various times that the US House of Representatives is in session because you will get a guided tour of the House and Congressman Thompson will take you to lunch in the Members’ Dining Room. He’ll also arrange a tour of the US Supreme Court before the trip is over. There is still so much to see and your base for this trip will be none other than the Henley Park Hotel*, a recognized Historic Hotel of America showcasing a stately façade of leaded, stained-glass windows and 119 grinning gargoyles. Constructed as the Tudor Hall Apartments in 1918, the Henley was a favored home of notable Senators and Congressmen of the age, situated as it is within walking distance of Capital Hill and the White House. I’m sure Mike can recommend some of his favorite restaurants for your stay, but be sure to visit BLT Steak, the acclaimed steakhouse from Chef Laurent Tourondel, because dinner will be on them.
