"Smart, classy, and timeless" was one restaurant reviewer's summation of the Gautreau's style. A multitude of diners, food journalists, and reviewers obviously agree.  "Simple, Elegant, and gimmick-free" would be another group of adjectives to describe this small restaurant. Nestled in a lush garden spot in an Uptown New Orleans neighborhood, Gautreau's courts it's guests with distinctively elegant, yet approachable surroundings and a menu that is both inventive and down to earth. The cooking here has always respected the classic New Orleans flavors, and been largely French-inspired.
